New to our store! 100% UK sourced herdwick wool mats/pads Our brand new felting mats are made from 100% UK sourced herdwick wool, and has been professionally felted onto a centre of hessian. Measuring approx 42cm x 30 cm with a thickness of 1cm. Our mats do not have covers, so some customers may prefer to make a cover for them so that the herdwick fibres do not shed onto their work, but this is purely a matter of preference for each artist. I prefer not to cover my mats as I find covers can blunt needles quickly! Herdwick wool is exceptionally tough and durable, so your felting pads will last a long time! Our mats are 100% biodegradable, so when you have finished with it, you can then use it in your garden, for example around tender plants to help reduce slug damages! Please note our mats are hand cut, which means there may be some slight variation in sizes, and edges may not be perfectly straight!

These are from our 'budget' mix, so are slightly imperfect ringlets.... they may have a little more VM in them, they may have tips missing, they may have 'fluffed out' and separated slightly or have an uneven take up of dye. Therefore, they are not perfect enough to make it into our superb regular bunches; however, they are perfect for craft projects where a small amount of curly fibre is required. Our budget mixes are always changing - therefore the photos attached are only indicative of the ringlets you will receive. The fibre is still soft, and silky, and is perfect for arts such as needle or wet felting, or for doll making, and other fibre crafts. It consists of wools from our own flock, mixed with some Devon and Cornwall Longwool from Tregondale, and some Perendale from Hannah's Flock. Our carded wool felts wonderfully - the Devon and Cornwall Longwool wool gives it a coarser texture, which means it's fast to felt. It's then been hand dyed by myself. To get the best results from our carded wool, take the length and gently pull side to side to free up the fibres, and it will form a mesh that's easy to use in all felted creations and other fibre arts. New to our store! 750g bag of raw poll dorset crossed with northcountry mule fleece! Our 750g craft bags of raw fleeces have been skirted, and all belly wool and very dirty wool has been removed. It contains no marker paint, and has almost no VM throughout the fleece. Our raw poll dorset x mule fleece has been grown by the sheep from my friends Cat and Jer, who are local farmers - and who also supply the silage for my own livestock over winter! As you can see, you will receive sections of fleece, rather than whole fleeces, which ensures that you get the best parts of the fleece, with the minimum of waste when you wash and prepare it for ypur chosen crat!
