New to our store! - Dutch Spotted Fleeces

This highly sought-after, rare breed wool is famous for its bouncy, lofty, "down-like" texture, yielding soft yet durable yarn.

Available in limited quantities, we have some mixed colour sections, and some single colour sections.

The farm I bought these fleeces from are new to keeping this breed, some some fleeces had very high VM sections. Therefore I have skirted all the fleeces very well, and I've also removed all of the sections with very high VM. So what is left are sections which are well skirted, and although they have some hay and straw on the surface, they don't have much tiny VM pieces which can making prepping the fleeces rather a chore.

Originating as a hardy breed from Europe, the Dutch Spotted sheep produces a uniquely crimpy, voluminous fleece that handspinners and felters adore for its signature springy handle and incredible loft.

Our skirted, raw fleeces:

Available only in smaller sections (no whole fleeces this year)
Have an average micron count of: 24-34
Have an average staple length of 4-6"
Mostly low VM
Are grown here in the UK, by my friends Ian and Beth
Have incredible crimp, natural bounce and loftiness.
