Masham Fleece, ready scoured, for hand spinners and spinning

Welcome spinners to our first fleece prepared specifically for spinners! Whether you have a traditional spinning wheel, a drop spindle or an e-spinner, our masham fleece has been well washed and is ready for you to prepare for spinning.

It has not been carded or combed

This fleece had several areas of heavy VM, and all of these areas have been removed - therefore for the purchase price you will receive a SECTION of fleece, weighing approx 30g.

The remaining sections of fleece, which are now for sale are very low in VM, and have been hand scoured to remove the dirt and lanolin.

To prepare it for spinning, you may like to card the fibre first, or use as is - it depends on how you like to spin.

The staple of these fleece sections is approx 6" - 8", although some sections may be a touch shorter or longer.

I've pulled a few locks from the fleece which I've pictured in the photos, so you will be able to see the natural white/cream colouring of masham, and the lock structure of the fleece.

A masham sheep is a cross between a teeswater and a swaledale or dalesbred sheep, so there may be a few grey or black fibres throughout the fleece too.

It's texture is very lofty and springy!

Our masham fleece comes from one of my friend's flocks of masham sheep, and she holds the same high welfare standards as my own flock.
