In alpaca fibre terms, there are 3 separate areas of the fleece, and these are named as follows:Blanket or Firsts - this is the main body of the alpaca, it's usually the longest staple, and the softest fibre on the fleece.Seconds are the neck, legs and belly fleece, and are a little coarser, and shorterThirds are usually all the scraggly bits left over! So the bottom of the legs, belly areas with high VM etc.These locks are great for all fibre arts! For felting, they are a little easier to work with than blanket fibre as they are a l

The Aurora - 10g bunch teeswater locksOur Nothern Lights Aurora Borealis inspired curly wool locks May 2024, and the rare sight of the Northern Lights was visible across Cornwall! After a poll of our customers, the name was picked for this colour scheme, and this listing is for a 10g bunch of teeswater curly locks from one of our own boys, Ankoth. This bunch is featured in our "aurora" carded wool box too, so you can get the whole selection, or you can also buy these individual colours in carded wool in our store! All of our sheep here at Tregaver are a non-slaughter flock, meaning that they will live out their natural lifespan with us, and are never sent for meat.

Valais Black nose x Grey Faced Dartmoor light strawberry blonde wool locks 10gThese locks have been very well washed by hand, and the hand dyed in a very pale strawberry blonde tone. . Warm Chestnut Wensleydale wool locks, 28g 14g 7g 6-8"100% hand processed and hand dyed in a warm chestnut mixture of tones - brown with some pink orange tones in differing lights. These long Wensleydale locks are approx 6-8" and are sold in a 28g, 14g or 7g bunches The fleece is super soft, and silky, and is perfect for arts such as needle or wet felting, or for doll making, and other fibre crafts. 28g will be perfect for doll makers who wish to make wigs, or glue the fibre to the doll hair, and will do one standard Monster High type doll For doll makers that prefer to look at the diameter of bunch, it is around 8-10cm, (3-4") which is a good indication of the size head the fibre would cover. There may be a small amount of VM (vegetable matter such as hay, straw etc), however they have been picked through thoroughly. White Faced Dartmoor OCEAN BLUE curly wool100% hand processed and hand dyed in a mixture of ocean blue tones, with some lighter teal/green tones This well separated loose fibre has some small curls, and some locks. It is sold in a 10g batch. Each batch has been hand separated from a fleece, washed, and then small batches were hand dyed in a mixture of mid blue tones. They were then rewashed to avoid colour bleed. The fleece is super soft, and silky, and is perfect for arts such as needle or wet felting, or for doll making, and other fibre crafts. There may be a small amount of VM, however they have been picked through thoroughly. This fibre comes from Clives's flock, a farmer close to my own farm. I have personally visited their farm and met Clive, and can confirm he keeps his animals to exceptionally high welfare standards - some of his sheep have attained high rankings in the Royal Cornwall Show! Winter morning mist, silver/grey/light brown Wensleydale Curly wool locks, 10g (v)100% hand processed and undyed. These ringlets are from a coloured wensleydale fleece - the fleece is naturally grey and silver with creams, black and brown too. These Wensleydale locks are approx 5", although some may be a touch shorter or longer, and are sold in a 10g bunch. The fleece is super soft, and is perfect for arts such as needle or wet felting, or for doll making, and other fibre crafts. This fibre comes from one of our ewes, called Endelyn, (meaning fair) and she has a truly mixed colour fleece filled with natural colours! The silver, grey, and light brown hues of these wool locks evoke the serene beauty of a misty winter morning, adding a touch of elegance to your creations. Wool Cloud - Red/ pink - Mule wool - Blue Faced Leicester x swaledale, hand dyed - 10gOur Mule locks! Mules are a cross between a Blue faced Leicester and a swaledale sheep. Natural and undyed, these came from Ian's flock, a local farmer who supplies me with winter hay and straw, and I buy fleeces from him Sold in a 10g bunch with an approx 9" staple length. Perfect wool locks, which are really popular for santa beards, tomtes and other fae folk! Great for felting, both needle felting or wet felting, and is popular with doll artists for rerooting, or making wigs. Due to the nature of this fibre, despite being washed mutiple times, a small amount of dirt may remain on some of the tips. This can usually be removed by lightly rubbing, or you could wash out the ends a little more if needed. As with all of our fibre, there may be a small amount of VM in the locks
