Introducing our luxurious Suri Alpaca Fibre, the ultimate choice for those seeking a natural, undyed mix of caramel, fawn and toffee tones.   It's from a gorgeous boy called Attitude, and I bet you can guess why!  He's part of our friend's herd at Pennywort Mill, a smallholding and holiday cottage complex close to me, where you can meet the alpacas as part of your stay!

These locks have been well separated from the "seconds" part of his fleece.  In alpaca fibre terms, there are 3 separate areas of the fleece, and these are named as follows:

Blanket or Firsts - this is the main body of the alpaca, it's usually the longest staple, and the softest fibre on the fleece.

Seconds are the neck, legs and belly fleece, and are a little coarser, and shorter

Thirds are usually all the scraggly bits left over!  So the bottom of the legs, belly areas with high VM etc.

These locks are great for all fibre arts!  For felting, they are a little easier to work with than blanket fibre as they are a little coarser and blend better with wool, without being so slippy.

Doll makers will also find they are fabulous for reroots, doll hair or wigs and wefts.

These are natural and undyed, and a glorious mix of caramel, fawn and fudge and toffee tones.

Suri alpaca fibre is one of the most cherished fibres - it's incredibly silky and soft, and lovely to touch.  As it's a soft silky fibre, it's not as easy to felt with as wool, so you may need to make a little more work to add them into your wool felties.

It is perfect for beards for gnomes, gonks or tomtes.  It also makes marvellous manes and tails or top coats too as it as a goregous lustre and sheen that adds a touch of sophistication to any project.
